Students engage with representatives of participating companies at the TUJ Career Fair on March 26, 2025.

As the Japan campus of Temple University (TUJ) continues its rapid growth—expanding its curriculum and enhancing its educational environment—graduates continue to secure employment at renowned domestic and global companies. TUJ’s dedicated Career Development Office has played a key role in this success by providing career coaching, hosting numerous job fairs, seminars, workshops, and offering online resources to increase early career readiness.

TUJ’s employment rate stood at around 97% for last year’s graduates and has consistently remained around this level in recent years. The campus continues to nurture talented, globally minded graduates who secure jobs across a wide range of industries, including consulting, finance, insurance, real estate, IT, manufacturing, hospitality and media. To support recruitment efforts, TUJ regularly organizes career events, inviting employers to the campus and co-hosting joint career fairs with Tokyo-based Sophia University. Also, the career office provides numerous opportunities for students to engage with alumni through the “Life After TUJ” program, helping them gain insights into career paths after graduation.

TUJ’s Renown Credit-bearing Internship Program makes a Difference

Another key factor in preparing students for the workforce is TUJ’s high internship participation rate, which enhances their employability and makes them more attractive to employers seeking candidates who can contribute immediately. According to the Career Development Office, about 45% of TUJ graduates last year completed at least one credit-bearing internship during their undergraduate studies. The strength of TUJ’s credit-bearing program was recognized with an award of excellence at the 2023 Career Program Awards.

“TUJ students are starting their job-hunting process earlier, with many now preparing as early as their second year instead of their final year,” said Erica Adams, director of career development. “This shift is driven by an expanded career services team, an increase in outreach, improved communication and a stronger peer influence, all of which encourage a more proactive approach to job hunting.”

Adams further emphasized the crucial role of TUJ’s internship program in career readiness, as the experience of a long-term internship provides students with real-world experience beyond the university environment. “Whether at multinational corporations, startups, embassies, or educational institutions, these experiences help students clarify their career goals and gain practical skills that make them more competitive in the job market,” she said.

Expanded Academic Programs

As Temple Japan continues to grow and enhance academic excellence, it has consistently introduced new curriculum offerings. TUJ recently launched a full four-year degree program in computer science. Previously, students pursuing this degree were required to complete their first three years in Japan and then finish their final year in Philadelphia. Now, they can complete all four years entirely in Japan.

Furthermore, TUJ introduced in the fall semester of 2023 a bachelor’s degree the tourism, hospitality and event management in response to strong student interest and the evolving travel and hospitality industry in Japan.

Spring Career Fair

Seventeen employers participated in the annual spring career fair on March 26, 2025. More than 450 students attended TUJ’s largest career event of the year, providing campus recruiters a valuable opportunity to connect directly with TUJ’s well-rounded and talented student body. Participating companies were Accenture, Acushnet, Amazon, AOI Pro Inc., HDI Global, Hoshino Resorts, Interac, ISHIDA, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), JTP, Luxottica Japan, Midori no Ki, NITORI, Randstad, Section L, Tapestry and TikTok.

The Class of 2025, set to graduate in May, has already received job offers from organizations such as Asahi Shimbun, Coca-Cola Bottlers, EY, Nitori, and Wolt.  Last year’s graduates were accepted by employers including Accenture, Agricultural Bank of China, Booz Allen Hamilton, CyberAgent, Fast Retailing, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, JAL, JAMSS, Johnson & Johnson, KIRIN Holdings Company, KPMG, Lotte Holdings, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Mitsubishi Shokuhin, Mitsukoshi U.S.A., National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Nikkei Shimbun, Prudential Life Insurance, Rakuten Bank, Salesforce.com, SAP, Seiko Watch, Suntory, Toshiba, and Uber.
