Students and corporate representatives network at the annual joint TUJ-Sophia career fair.

Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) and Sophia University held their annual joint career fair on October 8, 2025, at Sophia’s Yotsuya campus. The event provided opportunities for students and representatives from 16 corporations to engage in person.

More than 300 students from both universities attended the career fair, which has been taking place since 2012. The event focused on employers hiring for full-time, visa-sponsoring positions. It was also unique as that participating companies particularly interested in students with international backgrounds and are flexible regarding Japanese language proficiency.

The fair started from 2:30 pm as students visited individual company booths to listen to presentations and gathered detailed information directly from recruiting representatives. Steady crowds continued to visit the booths throughout the afternoon until the event ended at 6:00 pm.

Erica Adams, the director of the career development office at TUJ, said the event was a great success, drawing strong interest from the students. “I’m thrilled to see our students connecting with leading employers who value diversity,” Adams said. “Events like this highlight the growing demand for graduates who are comfortable in international environments and motivated to contribute to Japan. It helps our students step confidently into their job searches, knowing they’re valued not just for technical skills, but also for their unique cultural insight and adaptability.”
