The U.S. Embassy Tokyo, through the U.S. Consulate General Osaka-Kobe, has selected the Japan Campus of Temple University (TUJ) as its grantee to hold the second United States-Republic of Korea-Japan Young Trilateral Leaders (YTL) Summit in Osaka in July 2025.
The upcoming summit marks a significant milestone for TUJ, coinciding with the university’s record growth in enrollment and its expansion to Kyoto in January 2025. Bringing together about 50 young leaders (age 18-35) from the three countries and the Indo-Pacific region, the summit will focus on developing leadership skills, strategic thinking and innovating solutions in response to various growing challenges in the face of growing security, trade financial and environmental instability in the region. The historic August 2023 Trilateral Leaders Summit at Camp David paved the way for initiatives like the YTL Summit.
TUJ, the largest and oldest foreign university in Japan, will organize a series of pre-summit virtual workshops leading up to the YTL summit TUJ, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, will manage the selection process for 50 participants. Applications for the summit are now open, with further details available here: U.S.-ROK-Japan Young Trilateral Leaders (YTL) Summit 2025
Building on the success of the inaugural summit held in Busan in July 2024, TUJ will partner with the U.S. Embassy to support this summit, a key pillar of the YTL network. The summit provides a platform for young leaders to make meaningful contributions to trilateral policy discussions. After the summit, the participants will join the YTL alumni network, gaining access to virtual meetings, mentorship opportunities and reunion activities to ensure continuous growth, exchange and dialogue.
