August 7, 2006

Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ), is opening two major facilities in August—a second school building and a new student dormitory—to accommodate rapidly growing enrollment and to provide students with the best possible academic and living environments.

The new classroom and office facility, Mita Hall, will be home to the Law, MBA, and Corporate Education programs, along with some undergraduate faculty and courses. With a total area of about 1200 square meters (362 tsubo), Mita Hall will also house “smart” technology classrooms, a study room, student lounges, a computer lab, and meeting and seminar rooms, replicating many features of TUJ’s main facility, Azabu Hall. Classes at Mita Hall, which is a five-minute walk from Azabu Hall, will start in late August.

Sakura House Ontake-san, TUJ’s third student dormitory, will primarily accommodate the increasing number of TUJ students coming from the United States and other countries. Located near Ontake-san Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line, the dormitory is approximately 50 minutes from TUJ via public transportation. It will house over 60 students, all in single rooms, and offer a lounge area, kitchen, shower rooms, and laundry rooms. Sakura House Ontake-san is already fully booked for the upcoming fall semester.
