Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ), will conduct a two-week training program on Green Economy from December 5-16 for government officials and university faculty selected by the National Development Planning Agency of Indonesia (BAPPENAS). Twenty-five participants from Indonesia will attend the tailor-made non-degree program entitled “Training of Trainers on Green Economy”. The course is particularly relevant in view of next year’s Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development with its main theme on green economy in the context of sustainable development and capacity development for institutional growth.
The program is under the Professional Human Resource Development Project, Phase III (PHRDP-III) funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of a Japanese ODA Loan signed by the governments of Indonesia and Japan in 2006. The current program schedule includes on-site visits to locations such as the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) Tsukuba, Minato Incineration Plant, Minato Recycling Facility, and Kawasaki Eco-Town. TUJ will be supported in this program by NIES, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), Environmental Research Institute (ERI), and the City of Kawasaki.
