The final report session on the “Japan College Sport Research Project” by Temple University (TU), the University of Tsukuba, and DOME Corporation (the Under Armour sole agent in Japan) was held on March 29. The event was sponsored in part by the U.S. Embassy and took place at the American Center Japan in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The joint research project was initiated in September, and an interim report session was held at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) in Tokyo in December. Approximately 100 university administrators and media attended the March symposium.
At the event, TU Professor Daniel Funk, TU Associate Professor Jeremy Jordan, the University of Minnesota’s Assistant Professor Yuhei Inoue (TU Class of 2011), and DOME Corporation’s Mr. Kevin Abe engaged in a panel discussion. As moderator, Tsukuba’s Associate Professor Tsuyoshi Matsumoto concluded the discussion by highlighting three key points emphasized in the report: (1) the benefits and values of college sports, (2) the importance of sharing information both internally and externally, and (3) the potential for human resource development.
