Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) and Sophia University will jointly hold an English-only career fair on Wednesday, June 6 at Sophia University. A university career fair held entirely in English, including Q&A sessions, is quite rare in Japan. Since it enables international students who are not confident in their Japanese skills to attend, the event will present new opportunities for both companies and students to meet and learn about each other.

As globalization of the world economy advances, students with high English-language capabilities as well as experience in and adaptability toward multi-cultural environments are highly sought after by industry leaders. Developed in that context, this join career fair invites corporations that are active in hiring such “global talent” and is expected to draw internationally-minded students from both universities and beyond, creating valuable match-making opportunities for businesses and students.

As one of the selected 13 universities of the internationalization project (Global 30) pursued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Sophia University enjoys a high ratio of international students and has a long history of conducting English-based degree programs. At TUJ, all classes are taught in English and 60% of the undergraduate student body is non-Japanese. Both institutions are committed to supporting job placements of foreign nationals and Japanese students with global career aspirations, and therefore have worked together to organize this event.
