Dean Matthew Wilson of Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) participated in the Asia Undercurrent webinar series hosted by Nikkei and the Japanese government as a panelist on March 6th. This event marked the 18th installment of the series and focused on Japan’s growth under the ‘New Capitalism’ initiative advocated by the Kishida Cabinet. Noriyuki Shikata, Cabinet Secretary for Public Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan, moderated the discussion.

Joining Dean Wilson as panelists were Mr. Young Sun Bang, president and representative director of Thomson Reuters Japan, and Professor Akiko Imai, Dean of the Faculty of Global Business at Showa Women’s University. Together, they discussed recent economic growth in Japan, digital policies, employment of foreigners and women, and the mission of higher education. Dean Wilson also reflected on TUJ’s 42-year history in Japan and shared insights on talent development, the university roles and TUJ’s future plans.
