Dean Wilson speaks at the online news conference
The Japan campus of Temple University took part in an online media conference on June 7, 2022, as TUJ, jointly with 15 other universities, is participating in a scholarship program organized by the Tokyo-based Pathways Japan for admitting Ukrainian students affected by Russia’s invasion of the country.
TUJ Dean Matthew Wilson and Senior Associate Dean Chie Kato spoke and responded to questions from journalists. About 80 people, including journalists from the Asahi Shimbun and the public broadcaster NHK, attended.
Pathways Japan, a non-governmental organization that provides educational support for refugees, has set up a program called Japan-Ukraine Education Pathways to support Ukrainian students. (See here for details of Pathway Japan’s program.)
TUJ started a new scholarship program for Ukrainian undergraduate students earlier this month. The program will provide study abroad scholarships and other financial assistance for up to 10 Ukrainian undergraduate students. The priority application period closed on June 15 and many students applied.
