Japan Campus Historical Archive Dedicated at Temple University’s Paley Library

The Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) Archive on Main Campus, was dedicated at the Paley Library in Philadelphia in December 2018. The Paley archive gathers material from Temple’s 37-year history in Japan, running up to TUJ’s move this fall to a new campus building on Showa Women’s University campus in Sangen-jaya, west of Shibuya. Provost JoAnne Epps, TUJ Dean Bruce Stronach, former TUJ Dean Rich Joslyn and many others attended the event to celebrate the launch.

“It was a truly wonderful event and one of the things that made it so great was the mixture of people,” Dean Stronach said. “There were people from all areas of the university, some who have been involved in TUJ right from the very beginning and some who were really learning who we are for the first time. It should also be pointed out that the Archive Project is an outgrowth of the book that Dean Rich Joslyn and I are currently writing about the history of TUJ in the context of Japanese-American relations and the globalization of higher education.”
