The TUJ Art Program is hosting an exhibition “5%” to celebrate Women’s Month. This exhibition is curated by TUJ student Ola Franc and features sixteen TUJ female art students and recent alumni.
Concept
Guerrilla Girls mention that only 5% of art displayed in cultural institutions are made by women. While the poster was made in 1985, representation is still an ongoing issue in the arts. We want to contribute to a change. As a part of Women’s Month celebrations, the Art Program of Temple University, Japan Campus invites students, faculty and the broader art community of Tokyo to a symbolic, one day exhibition showcasing the talent of selected woman artists who are currently students or recent alumni of Temple University, Japan Campus. Join us in celebrating womanhood expressed through variety of visual media — from oil painting to graphic design.
